Cleo Ice Queen’s real name is  Clementina Lukonde Mulenga. The television and radio presenter was born on 14 June 1989 in Lusaka, Zambia. She has four siblings, two brothers and two sisters and is the third child. 

Cleo embarked on her musical journey when she was 11 years old. She used small opportunities like parties to hone her skills. Cleo Ice Queen delved further into music throughout her educational life. Whilst at Banani International School, she released he first song “Hands Up”

As mentioned, Cleo Ice Queen was a student at Banani International School. At the university, the musician studied business administration and majored in public relations but didn’t graduate due to financial constraints in the family.

Cleo Ice Queen’s Career

The musician admitted that music was a fallback plan particularly after she dropped out of university. Cleo Ice Queen began her professional career in 2011 and released her first single “Big Dreams” which turned out to be a big hit. After her first big success, Cleo worked with Kuli Chana on the song “Tswa Daar”. 

As she made her way up in the hierarchy within the music industry, her big break came when Cleo Ice Queen was one of the contestants in Big Brother 2013. She went all the way to the final but lost to Namibia’s Dillish Mathews. Nonetheless, the competition cemented her place in the Zambian music industry. 

Post her Big Brother appearance, Ice Queen Cleo landed a few television gigs including hosting a Zambian football show, Bola Yapa Zed on Supersport television. In 2016, she represented Zambia in Coke Studio Africa's musical show. She was paired with Bucie with whom she made the song “Simuye” which translates to “We Are One”

Despite her very schedule, Cleo Ice Queen worked on her first album “Geminice” and released it in 2016. It carries 15 tracks and contains songs like “Mama Yo”, “Falling”, “Saturday”, “Ninaka” and “Addicted” amongst others. The most popular in the album is “Turn Up” which features Urban Hype, “Oxygen”, “Addicted and others.

Cleo Ice Queen’s music has attracted a couple of awards. In 2013 & 2015, she won the Best Female award at the AFRIMMA.

Cleo Ice Queen is now one of the celebrated female hip hop artists in Zambia. As her star continues to rise, she became the first Zambian artist to sign with Def Jam Africa. She joins a label with a stellar list of musicians like Cassper Nyovest, Nadia Nakai, Boity, and others.

Unfortunately, Cleo Ice Queen called off the wedding after she allegedly found out that her soon to be hubby was cheating on her. That noted some quarters maintain that the reason for their split isn’t really known.
