Since then he has released hit after hit, collaborating with the biggest names in the Zambian music industry, including Slapdee and Koby.

He released the songs Hate Mail, Ku Matero, Stopilla Sunzu and Dangerous to fan-mania, and after the release of Paloma announced he was taking a break from the industry to pursue his studies.

The break didn’t last long, with Bobby East collaborating with other Zambian artists and releasing new music, including Heaven featuring Winston Moyo and the music video for M.L.A.M.

And while fans eagerly await more music from the Afro rap artist, his albums B.EAST and Vanilla has all of the musical hits that make his one of Zambia’s favourite musicians.

Bobby East Controversy

In 2014 Bobby East made headlines for all the wrong reasons. He and his girlfriend Ruth Mukanga, a student at the time, were fined K8,500 each. The couple pleaded not guilty, but a Lusaka magistrates court found them guilty for making a sex video, which ended up going viral.

The judge who presided over the case wasn’t satisfied with their apology and deemed punishment necessary. And if the couple didn’t pay their fine, a nine-month prison sentence was most likely.

At a performance months after this verdict, Bobby East was very apologetic to his fans, and it seems this scandal was good for his career as the music kept on coming much to his fans delight.

It’s a well-known fact that one doesn’t become successful and reach the top of the game without a few haters having a few things to say. After growing up in the same area and a few musical collaborations, there’s no love lost between Bobby East and fellow rapper Smaq – and it started with Smaq’s comments on Bobby’s debut album B.EAST.

It didn’t take long for Bobby to react with the diss tracks Hard Feelings and I Forgive You, before Smaq released One Zali.

And occasionally the beef doesn’t just stay in the studio and the music they release, with a few clap backs entertaining everyone on their social media platforms.

Bobby spoke out about his feelings of sadness and hopelessness following the Daev's tragic death. In a sombre tweet; Bobby voiced his dismay that many people had only supported the singer at his funeral, and not when he was alive and well

"So much work goes in for lil or no reward, in fact most times only thing you get is ridicule.... I wish my boy had as many people at his concerts as he did at his funeral.."

Then came the shocker...Bobby claimed that the whole experience had left him depressed and questioning his career as he seriously considered hanging up the mic.

Fans were quick to offer him words of comfort and encouraged him not to give up on his talent.
