Mulaza Kaira, known by his stage name, Macky 2, is feeling overwhelmed with gratitude recently, as he realises he is truly living his best life. Whilst many others are work their mundane 9-5 job, this Zambian performer is travelling the country and the world (pre-COVID), showing off his passion for music with his adoring fans.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, 3 December 2020, Macky 2 penned a lengthy explanation on why he continues to do what he does – and simply put, it’s because he loves it! According to the musician, he is often asked how he manages to sustain his 15-year career without taking a break, as many believe that he is completely overworked.

He stated, “They asked Me, “Mr. Kaira, you have been working fifteen hours a day for the last fifteen years. Don’t you think you should take a vacation?” I smiled and replied, “I am always on vacation.” Translation: I Love This Shit I Do.”

Macky 2 went on to explain that the mentality of people need to change, as more often than not, the goal is to get a job, rather than to get a job that you love. He expanded on the quote about not working a day in your life if you love your job, and claimed that is exactly what he has chosen to do.

“That's why they say "If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life". The main purpose of every job search should be to find work you love doing. Instead the main purpose for most people is to get a job. And too many people make the mistake of thinking the goal is to get any job. Pa last you know the story: they dread waking up during the week, live for the weekend, and spend the majority of their working hours the rest of their life doing something that’s not for them. How awful is that? Tamba sicho.. do not settle for any job, not even a job that is sort of what you want to do. Aikona! You only get one shot at life, and that means you must follow your passion. Confucius; Its Ok Ukuchitako Sacrifice A Few Years To Raise Money For Your Dreams And Passions… Noti Ukushitikapo Ur Whole Life For The Sake Of Of Security, Ine Teti.”, he said.
