Patson Daka was born 23 years ago to Nathtali and Josephine Daka in Kafue, a town in the Lusaka Province of Zambia.
The young star’s love for the game was inspired by his father who was a professional footballer and played for Kafue-based FC called Nitrogen Stars. Unfortunately, Daka’s father died in a tragic car accident when Patson was still young.
At the age of 12 years, Patson Daka kickstarted his career at Kafue Celtic FC. Thanks to his natural born skills with the ball, Patson Daka rapidly rose through the club’s division and when he was 15, he featured in Kafue Celtic’s first team and the following year he was loaned out to Nchanga Rangers.
In 2014, Patson Daka helped his team to win the 2014 Zambia Super League and he also won the club’s Young player of the year.
He was loaned to Power Dynamos FC and although he had a rough start, he finished as the league’s top scorer in the next season.
In 2016, Daka made his debut at the COSAFA U20 Cup where he helped Zambia win. His performance helped him gain both local and international recognition and was also awarded the the 2016 Zambia Super League Young player of the year.
The following year, Patson Daka was signed by Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg where he helped the club win the UEFA Youth League after scoring two goals in two games. He was named Austrian Bundesliga player of the season in May 2021 after scoring 27 goals in 28 games and helping the club win its fourth successive league title.
